What songs make you cry?
Are there any songs out there that you listen to that inexplicably give you the urge to cry or tear up? If so, post them here. I've had this question in my head and can't get it out. Here are mine:
Something about these songs just makes me wanna cry, and I can't explain it. Can't tell if happy or sad tears, either. I guess they're just that powerful on me.

Moved to music and art again. Because apparently you can't understand that music related content goes in the music and art forum. Not other discussions.

Re: What songs make you cry?
Really only 2 songs have made me cry nowadays.
1.) Oracion - Because of the Pokemon Movie it was in, The Rise of Darkrai, and how amazing it was. It even made it as the ultimate song to help my character of Shinyo escape Hell's Illusion (long story for those who were not in Spirit Force 1)
2.) Evanescence - My Immortal
Because I made a scene involving another character that was very dramatic and somber, I was looking for songs that could fit the emotional impact of the scene. I was specifically looking in Evanescence because they gave her a theme song I liked. Eventually I came to My Immortal and I will admit, the context of the scene and the delivery of the lyrics made me cry.

Re: What songs make you cry?
There have been one or two songs that made me tear up a bit once, but after that it's generally a pretty rare thing to happen with the same song (i.e. Greensleeves on the harpsichord). This is the only one that consistently gets me.

I was listening to My Immortal right before I read your post, Necro. I also agree with it fully, as it does make me think of a lot of sad scenes involving characters of mine. I also loved Oracion, which also makes me thing of the same thing.

Re: What songs make you cry?
I would like to also bring attention to another song dealing with a video game that legit made me cry. That being the fan made song, Stronger Than You, made for Undertale.
Now say what you want about Undertale and its underlined morality system and the obnoxious fanboys yelling at people to do things a certain way, I focus on the great things that came out of it. Such as characters and songs. Stronger Than You was made a 3 way song in a sense from 3 points of view, however explaining this will more than likely be spoiler territory for those who want to play it. With that said, you have been warned.

Stronger Than You details the Genocide Run, in which you go through the game mowing down everything in your path strictly against the morals the game teaches. This song has 3 part sung by 3 characters.

Stronger Than You details the Genocide Run, in which you go through the game mowing down everything in your path strictly against the morals the game teaches. This song has 3 part sung by 3 characters.
- Sans' Part:
- First you have the part sung by comedian skeleton, Sans. His part details the tragedy of the Genocide Run as he is the final boss of that run and you have killed all of his friends and even his brother Papyrus. This battle, the hardest in the game, is made so to detail how much pain you have caused being thrown right back at you with line such as calling the protagonist a Dirty Brother Killer. Even though Sans is the weakest foe as 1 hit kills him, the fact he dodges every attack you make until the very end and his attacks are too strong to avoid at points gives him the role of basically an executioner to the main character of Frisk.
- Chara's Part:
- Then we have Chara. Chara is set up as the driving phantom force that tempts players to kill. It is clear she is anticipating something big to happen; the death of Sans. Chara does not even care how many times she forces Frisk to die as she allows him to revive at the same save point to try again, to which Sans is still there. Chara is brutal as she keeps driving Frisk to attempt strikes to kill Sans. Even to the point of making the chorus sound comical in a way talking all about how she is made entirely of love.
She even forms a good duet with Sans in a few videos of this song.
- Frisk's Part:
- Finally... the saddest part of the song. Frisk's perspective. This takes a deeper turn with a somber piano as Frisk realizes he can never go back from his choices to kill everyone. Really... He wants to die, knowing fully he is being forced to continue until he kills Sans. Talking lines about all of the characters who died by Frisk's hands. Frisk shows us in this edition he is probably wiser than Sans and Chara in how he realized everything that happened as he says even he will give up for Sans.
Many videos of this version exist but two stick out to me the most. The first shows in animation the pain Frisk is going through with have the tragic part in which sparing Sans is an instant kill with a montage of the characters and what good times Frisk would have had with them come the other runs.
The 2nd one though is in montage form with the pictures telling the story very well especially detailing the moments Frisk is certain to feel in the end when he does make the final strike and how he wishes to reset, but Chara stops him and convinces him to advance.
It was this part of Stronger Than You that made me cry thinking about being Frisk in that position. It truly is the saddest version of this song thinking of the situations in play.
