I don't know why, nor do I understand why, but for some reason we are getting riots because people don't like the skin. Which I sorta just find silly. So here I am, explaining why I am not changing the skin. That doesn't mean I won't compromise with people. I'll get to this compromise later.

First of all, literally the entire academy disagrees with the site aesthetics, and your comment is "you won't change it". Listen, you may have your side of things, but this is a community-run site. The staff deciding everything for the community is how just about every riot happens, and realistically, I think I can speak for most of us when I say we're more angry about your reaction and response to these complaints. And then you go on to say you'll make a compromise, but you won't change the theme. Excuse me? Make up your mind?

When it comes to forum skins, It's like how you let your parents choose your outfit for you until you're old enough to buy your own clothes. You guys don't really know what is good for ya. Apparently, I'm just hearing that the skin is bad, without any real logic behind the reasoning whatsoever.

Alright, first of all, you are far from being our "parent". When it comes to artistic views and preferences, it is purely subjective. So when you tell us a color scheme is something we need chosen for us, like children who can't tell the difference between left and right yet, it seems more like you're trying to patronize us that compromise. Second of all, you want something bad about it? Sure.

The bright, starch background is not only bland and boring to the eyes, it's actually painful to look at for some people, which has been a continued complaint by some people. Oh, but God forbid people's personal health count as logic.

Hell, you don't come online everyday to a forum to admire it's beauty. If that's what the purpose of skins were, you might as well go to a museum and look at art that is pretty. Or watch anime, thats just as beautiful (depending on what you watch). You come onto a forum to have a good time with the community, or roleplay, or duel, or talk to people, or do whatever it is that you do. If you are just interested in how pretty a site looks, then you really just don't care about the community in general.

Sure, perhaps this is the point of the forum. But all this does is dodge the issue at hand. Why does a site not having an artistic purpose dictate than it can't be visually pleasing? What, because the White House is used for politics and whatnot, it doesn't have to be more than a shabby, run-down shack? On top of that, the entire community at this academy right now disagrees with your choices for the skin. The only one rubbing off as "not caring about the community" is you.

You also have to remember that there aren't that many academies out there with light skins out there. We are doing something that is different and attracts people because it's different. It leaves a good impression, because it is well organized and it's designed so that it looks like the people who are running the place actually know what they are doing.

Actually, the whole "attracting" thing doesn't seem to be working, considering most people dislike the color scheme. Dunno where you got that idea. Second of all, it actually isn't organized. The clustering of different threads and boards makes it difficult enough as is to find exactly where everything is, and that's ever further caused by how bland and uniform everything looks. I mean, even now, surfing the site for a while, I still have to search and squint to find everything, and I know for a fact I'm not the only one who has this problem.

And please, I know a certain someone is going to say that "Oh, I'm just trying to do everything differently." and "Oh, you should stop trying to fix what isn't broken." First of all, I'm not saying dark skins don't work, cause they do. Secondly, people like to see things that are different. And lastly, this isn't something that majorly effects the academy or the forum as a whole.

Alright, so basically, this comes back to my point that it is subjective, so the fact that you seem to be the only one who genuinely prefers this color scheme this much over a darker one should mean that the community wins, and it should change, right? And what in the world dictates what's important to the academy? We have the system for the shop, dorms, testing, and ladder set up already. Most the difficult stuff to set up is out of the way. The fact that the community has been complaining this much means it should be a priority.

So here's my compromise. I'll give you a dark skin, but I'm not getting rid of this one. And I won't guarantee that it'll be just as good (I have one in mind, but if you are desperate, you'll help me pick one out). I'll just add a theme switcher, so you can change the skin anytime you want. But I'm a busy person, so that'll take a bit, cause I have a lot going on. Like I have Finals next week, and just a bunch of other stuff I am doing. This will probably also result in me changing the admin color from black to something else. Also, because we're using a skin changer, there are some javascripts we have witch are meant to be used with a light skin. So using the dark skin may result in some parts of the white being left over. And don't worry, when I release this, I'll release some other fun things as well. Consider it as an update on AKA in general.

So your compromise is releasing what you seem to think is an objectively worse skin, not one just as good? What's even the point then? That's not a compromise, that's you getting what you want while leaving us scraps as if we're a flock of buzzards. Take all the time you need, but the fact you refuse to communicate and cooperate with the community is what's getting to all of us.

But, this isn't going to be a very high priority for me. So if you really want a different skin, and you really want me to work on it faster, you are going to have to provide me with some logical explanation behind it. Otherwise, it just supports my theory that you kids can't get used to change (or anything thats different for that matter), and don't know whats good for your own health.

Again with this patronizing stuff. What's good for our health? Excuse me? This isn't us sticking our hands in an electrical outlet, where we have a serious chance to be hurt. This is a subjective change that the community, for the most part, dislikes, and would like to see changed. In that case, why do you seem to think you're entitled to tell us what's good for us? And it's not that we dislike change or whatever you seem to think. We just dislike this change because it's visually displeasing, frankly hurts our eyes, and is making you seem so stubborn to the point you refuse to talk tot he community.
