[TAoB](Mid/High) Journey to the island 1

A man in his late 20s was standing in front of a window of a ship looking at the endless blue ocean in front of him. The man didn't seem very impressive, he wasn't tall or muscular. The colours of the clothes he wore were starting to fade and they looked somewhat stretched. The shirt he was wearing was very light blue, however it was clear it once had a much brighter color which had a print of multiple playing cards. Further more he wore normal jeans and a pair of normal shoes which noses were almost worn out. His light brown hair was messy like he just woke up and didn't bother doing anything about his hair. As the man was looking out of the window, the door behind him swung open with a loud screech. A man in a suit was the one who had opened the door and seemed to be the polar opposite to the one  looking out of the window. He was tall, muscular and and looked like he cared what people thought about him. The suit looked like it was made for this man which made him look even more impressive. His voice echoed throughout the room as he spoke, it was a deep somewhat hoarse voice.
"Hey Anthony, how long do you think you can just stay around here? You know that we'll be arriving shortly, if it weren't for me I'm positive you'd still be on the island."
The man turned around with a carefree smile on his face as if the words didn't phase him and sighed. "I know, I know. You don't have to keep reminding me every time you get the chance Dirk. What were you doing anyway, you also almost missed the boat. That's very unlike you." Anthony replied with a playful tone in his voice his voice was fairly neutral, almost no emotion that he didn't want to could be heard from his tone. Although he sometimes spoke a bit too fast and a syllable was lost, other than that there wasn't anything special about his voice.
"Yeah, that's right. However after noticing that you weren't on the ship 30 minutes before we were going to depart I decided to go looking for you, since knowing you the chance of you missing the boat was high. You might've defeated me in tournaments before, however your behavior outside the tournaments aren't anything but unprofessional." Dirk said with a sharp tone in his voice.
Anthony chuckled nervously "You've got a point there, however how could I stay focused while I was thinking about all the children who will go to this school?" He said with excitement in his voice.
Dirk started to calm down a bit and sighed. "I get where you're coming from, however you should REALLY mind the time." He took a quick glance at his watch. "Hmm. we're not scheduled to arrive for another 30 minutes." As soon as his sentence ended a sly grin appeared on his face and asked "Wanna play?"
"You still gotta ask?" Anthony replied without thinking in a playful tone. "So wanna play for real or just for fun?"
Dirk's grin grew wider. "You still gotta ask?" He said in a similar tone to Anthony.

"Well then, seeing how you challenged me, I'll begin. My turn. Draw! Hmm..." As soon as the duel began Anthony seemed to change, his personality and the vibe he had changed in a snap. From easy-going and lazy to completely focused and serious. "I set a monster and end my turn." Anthony's voice seemed deeper and could easily be heard throughout the entire room, due to the confidence that was behind the voice. He made a simple hand gesture at the end of his turn signifying Dirk could go.
Dirk looked at Anthony to see if he could read a bluff from his face but nothing was showing. "Okay then, my turn. Draw! It's best to have a strong start, and hope you've got nothing there. I normal summon witch's apprentice and activate Yami. My monster now has 1250 attack. Battle phase. My monster attacks your set one."
Anthony flipped the monster and grinned. "Too bad, Armail has 1300 defense. Take 50 damage."
Dirk's face was completely calm however he wasn't. 'A monster with 1300 defense, really?! I would've prefered a mystical elf over that." He sighed. "Well that's everything I can do for now. Your turn."
"Well then." Anthony said with an excited voice. "This is where things get interesting. Draw! I tribute my armail to tribute summon lava battleguard in attack mode."
Dirk's face twitched for a second. "Lava Battleguard huh, that's a pretty good card. Was it your recommendation?"
"Uhuh, anyway Lava Battleguard attacks your witch."
Dirk sighed and put his monster in the graveyard "I take 300 points of damage."
"Well then I think I'll leave it at that for now. Your turn. Let's see if you can draw a card that can combat my Lava Battleguard."
Dirk drew a card. 'Exactly the card I was waiting for.' He set the card he just drew and 2 cards in his spell and trap card zone and passed the turn to Anthony.
"Ah you bastard, you know I don't know these decks by heart." Anthony exclaimed. "Ah well, nothing I can do about it. Draw! Exactly what I needed. I equip legendary sword to my Lava Battleguard which boosts his attack and defense by 300 points and I attack your face down."
Dirk smiled. "Sorry, it's a Mystical Elf and with Yami her defense is 2200, you'll be taking 350 points of damage now."
"Is this your definition in fun, tying the lifepoints with your oppon-" As he started looking back at his cards he'd noticed the time. "Sorry I have to leave."
"Afraid you might lose because you can't get over my monster?" Dirk said with a wide smile on his face.
"No, well actually yes. However that's not the point. We'll be arriving shortly, and I doubt people want to see me wearing this." He gestured to his outfit.
Dirk sighed. "For once you're right. Go, you might still have enough time to fix everything." He said in a playful tone.

About 20 minutes later 2 men were standing on the ship, both wearing suits. As the wind was blowing rather strongly they were looking at the harbor which was getting closer and closer. "You ready for this Anthony?" Dirk asked. Anthony nodded, if one were to compare how he looked before and now no one would believe it was the same person. His hair was neatly combed, he wore a well tailored suit which made him look taller and bigger than he actually was. He sighed. "I hope people will show up and don't think it's some sort of prank."
"Don't you worry about that." Dirk exclaimed. "We've got perfectly credible financial backers who surely have promoted the hell out of this school." A security guard came running towards them. "Mister Deon, mister Bobson, please come inside for your own safety we're about to dock." With that they walked inside and waited until the docking was complete.

About 15 minutes later a small desk was put next to the entrance to the ship where Anthony sat and Dirk was inspecting everything on the ship hoping everything was in order.

After having watched most of the other students take their test Lydia finally stepped up to the dueling ring herself. "Seems I finally get to try out this deck of mine." She nodded to her tester, "Well then, start us off."
"Okay then. I'll draw a card for my turn. I think I'll start things off nice and slowly by setting a card on the field and ending my turn."
"My turn. I draw." Lydia examined her hand, it would have to do for now. "I've watched every duel thus far and they all seem to start very similar. However if the boot camp on the ship taught me anything it was that playing defensively only netted me a loss. I summon Baby Dragon in attack mode and activate my field spell Mountain. I shall finish off my turn by attacking your face down monster."
"Just an arma knight, nothing special for now." The teacher commented as his monster was destroyed by battle. "It's my turn then draw. That'll do nicely. I activate the magic card De-spell destroying your mountain field magic card . After that I'll summon my Water Magician and attack your Baby Dragon. I think I'll end my turn after that."
"Hmm. Not going to be easy is it. Fine then, my turn now, draw." Lydia drew, it was a decent card but not right now, "I'll have to go against what I just said a moment ago and play a card face down and then end my turn."
"My turn it is then, Draw! I summon the Night Lizard in attack mode and then I'll attack your face-down monster with my Water Magician."
"So close. However my Dragon Piper has more than enough defense to survive that attack."
"Well then, I suppose I'll have to end my turn early then."
"Draw. Let's start moving back on the offensive with Winged Dragon Guardian of the Fortress who will destroy your Lizard. With that my turn is over"
"And that means my turn begins. Draw. Then it's time for a somewhat drastic tactic. I'll summon my Mystic Lamp in attack mode. My Mystic Lamp allows me to attack you directly regardless if there are any monsters on your side of the field. So I'll proceed to do that now. Next I'll attack your Winged Guardian of the Fortress #1 with my Water Magician and end my turn." As the teacher passed his turn he knew this duel was going to be a tough and potentially long one and prepared for it mentally.
"I draw." With a quick glance at her hand Lydia summoned the card she had just drawn. "I Summon Lesser Dragon and attack your Lamp. That will conclude my turn."
"I'll draw a card for my turn then. Seems like Lady Luck is shining on me today. I summon Hyosube in attack mode and proceed to attack your lesser dragon. With that I'll end my turn."
"My turn once again. Seems I'm getting pushed into a corner here and my draw isn't going to help me out this turn. I'll have to end it."
"I'll draw another card then. I did not draw any card which could defeat your monster. So I guess I'll set a monster instead and end my turn here."
"I draw. Now, I've seen how these decks work and I'm going to have to take a bit of a risk here by summoning Lord of D. to attack your face down."
"Such a shame I had another Night Lizard to stop your attack."
Lydia sighed, "Then I'm forced to end my turn."
"I'll draw a card. I'll attack your Lord of D with my Hyosube and end my turn."
"My turn and I draw again." She looked at the card she drew and frowned. "Your deck contains both materials of a fusion monster I obtained in my first pack. It's only safe to assume that you have that same monster. Now that I have drawn something that can do something about your Hyosube it's my turn to do something drastic. I tribute my Dragon Piper to summon Thunder Dragon and attack your Hyosube! Now I end my turn."
"Huh, summoning a Thunder Dragon and giving up an easy way to summon your strongest monster to get rid out of a difficult situation. Your choices are excellent. My turn Draw! It's a shame that my draws are just too strong today. I summon my Star boy, boosting the attack of all my water monsters by 500 attack points. Making my Night Lizard 1650. Barely enough to get over your newly summoned Thunder Dragon. After that my Starboy will attack you directly! With that I'll end my turn for now." The teacher could not believe his luck. Turn after turn he kept drawing the exact card he needed to get out of the situation he was just put in.
Lydia was beginning to get irritated as she drew again, unable to believe her luck. Turn after turn she drew cards that would not help in the slightest. "I'll start my turn by using Sparks, then I wil summon Fairy dragon which has just enough attack to get over your Star Boy. I end my turn."
"My turn it is. Draw! I'll summon another rather strong monster, namely my Ice Water with an attack equal to my Night Lizard.Now my Night Lizard attacks your monster and my Ice Water attacks you Directly!"
"Draw." Lydia hummed to herself, "Finally we're getting somewhere. My life points seem to be needing a bit of medicine, so I'll activate Red Medicine to replenish 500 points, then I will summon Blackland Fire Dragon and attack your Lizard."
"Seems Like I'll need another miracle. Let's see if we can't create another one! DRAW! Seems like my lucky streak has ran out. I'm happy for you. So I'll switch my Ice Water to Defense and set a monster on my field and end my turn for now."
"I draw again, and it seems luck is finally starting to turn in my favor. I summon Koumori Dragon and attack both of your monsters and end my turn."
"Man, Am I glad I kept my jellyfish in my hand to keep me protected from your onslaught of powerful dragons. My turn Draw! I'll end my turn doing nothing."
Drawing again Lydia gritted her teeth, "How can luck switch away from me so quickly? My dragons cannot get over your Jellyfish. I have only one way to get over it and that is by sacrificing my strongest monsters. So be it. I tribute my Blackland Fire Dragon for a second Thunder Dragon to destroy your Jellyfish and attack you directly with Koumori Dragon. I end my turn."
"Well, things are getting a bit out of hand now. I'll set a monster and a card in my spell/trap card zone. With that I'll end my turn for now."
"I'll Draw and start off my turn by activating De-Spell targeting your face down in the spell/trap zone. Next I will summon one of my weakest monsters, Wicked Dragon with the Ersatz Head. Because I don't want to run the risk of another Jellyfish my Thunder Dragon will attack your face down." Thunder Dragon destroyed the face down monster, an Aqua Snake, "Next my other two monsters will attack you directly!" Taking a decent chunk from the testers life points Lydia passed the turn to him.
"Well then, this might be the very last turn of this duel. I'm sure my deck will give me something I can use to turn this situation around. Draw. Well I can't say it's a bad card. However it's over." The tester put the card he just drew in his monster zone. "I summon Hyosube in attack mode and I'll attack your Wicked Dragon. With that I'll end my turn and allow you to finish me off."
Lydia drew again. "I'm a bit disappointed I didn't draw a polymerization, oh well. I equip Dragon Treasure to my Koumori Dragon and attack your Hyosube with Thunder Dragon and finish you off with Koumori." Lydia tipped her hat to the Tester, "Good game sir."

Green walked up to the machine and looked around, he smiled a bit but came back to his senses. "Nice stuff you have here" Green said, taking his deck out he started to shuffle them as he waited for the tester to start the game.
"Okay then.  Let's start shall we?" The teacher put down his deck and looked once again at the next student who was about to get tested. "You know what, I'll let you decide who goes first."
Green placed his deck and thought about it for a second. "I'll go first thank you very much", picking up his cards he looked through his set. "I set one card down and end my turn" Green said.
"It's my turn then. I'll draw a card. Not exactly what I wanted to draw but good nonetheless. I'll discard the card I just drew, Thunder Dragon, to activate it's effect. It allows to to add 2 more Thunder Dragons from my deck to my hand. Furthermore I'll also set a monster like you and end my turn."
Green smiled as he drew another card. Looking through his set again he started to think of plays, none of them were really set but he had to do something. "I'll turn my monster face up, and activate a spell card called "Share the Pain" Green placed killer needle into the grave. "Then I'll summon Gokibore into face up Atk position, and attack you directly!" Green said. "And with that i end my turn"
"I'll draw. Exactly what I needed right now." The teacher summoned the card he drew without thinking. "I summon Takuhee which is more than strong enough tot take out your Gokibore." The Bug shattered into a million pieces the moment it came into contact with the tallons of the bird. I think I'll leave it at that for this turn Go ahead your turn."
Green frowned to his monster getting destroyed but didn't put too much heart into it. Drawing a new card he was surprised to see what it was, and looked back to the monster that destroyed his. "Ok, I'll go ahead and summon Insect Soldiers of the Sky, and I atk Takuhee, because of Sky's effect It has 2000 atk. And with that I end my turn."
"Hmm... I'm kinda in a bad spot here. I'll summon my Lightning Conger in face-up defense mode and i equip it with the electro whip boosting it's attack and defense by 300 points making it's defense 1050 and enough to withstand the attack from Insect soldiers of the Sky. With that I'll end my turn."
Green drew another card. "I turn my Insect into defense position, and i summon my kamakiriman into atk position, and atk your lightning conger, and with that i end my turn" Green was trying to speed this duel up.
"My turn DRAW! HAHA! This is what I'm talking about I normal summon the immortal of thunder! Now my immortal will destroy all your monsters at once with this spell card! Makiu the Magical Mist! All monster on your field with a DEF lower than 1500 are destroyed but at the same time I'm not allowed to use my battle phase this turn. To finish my turn I'll set 1 card on the field and end my turn.
"MMMmmmmm, for this turn I'll only place one card face down and end my turn"
"I'll draw a card then. Well, aren't I increadibly lucky. However I think I'll save this card for later. and just attack with my immortal of thunder for this turn."
"Ok" Green drew another card, and looked at his set. "Not so good.." Getting an idea. "Ok, i tribute beaver warrior to tribute summon dungeon worm! And then i attack your immortal thunder. And end my turn" [/color]
"It's my turn then. I'll draw a card! I'll set a monster and activate my Umi field magic card allowing all my thunder monsters to gain 200 attack and defense. With that I'll end my turn."
Drawing another card he smiled "I activate the spell card De-spell and target the set one, then I activate another spell card "Laser canon armor" and attatch it to my dungeon worm, giving it 2100 atk, while at the same time activating polymerization! sending kawagata and hurculese beatle into the graveyard to summon kwagar hurculese!" Green took a pause. "Now, Dungeon worm atk the face down and beatle atk him directly!" "Good game"
"Well played. It's a shame though, you had a lot of unnessisary moves which will affect your overall score. However overall it was a good test duel."

Ashten stood across from the duelist that will be testing him and judge his skills. "Lets see if this academies testers are as good as I heard from the other students."
"Well then, you asked for it. My turn, Draw! I think I'll start things off by summoning my trail of nightmare in attack position and equipping it with Dark Energy raising it's ATK and DEF by 300 points. With that I'll end my turn.
"Weak start but lets see how I do! Draw! I'll start off by seting one monster face down and as much as I would like to end you fast I'll let this go for a short while till I get bored of you. I end my turn."
"It's my turn. I'll draw a card! Seeing how this is the last test I'll be doing and you're the last person to be tested, I'm sure the higher ups won't mind if I cut loose a bit. I know your deck's strategy so let's counter that shall we? I activate stop defense putting your face-down monster in attack position!
"Nice try! But you flipped the monster known as Big Eye! With this card I see the top 5 cards of my deck and place them in any order I desire!"
"No problem go right ahead. Next i'll summon my mystic tomato in attack mode. Now my tomato attack his big eye! After that my trail of nightmare will attack you directly. Turn end."
"Nice lil damage right there sir but that is nothing! You'll need to do more than that to finish me heh. I Draw! I activate the spell card Polymerization! Fusing my Dragon Zombie with my Snake Hair to summon one of my most powerful monsters The Great Mammoth of Goldfine! Then after that I'll set one monster face down and attack your Trial of Nightmare! After that I'll end my turn."
"Well done, you've fusion summoned your strongest monster. Now let's see if we can do something about that. DRAW! Now that's a card I can use later on. So this turn I'll put my mystic tomato in defense mode and end my turn."
"Nice to see I have put you on the defensive sir. Now I draw! I activate the spell Violet Crystal and equip it to my Great Mammoth increasing its attack and defence by 300 points! Then i flip my face-down monster revealing it to be the 13th grave and with this I'll attack with it!
The mystic tomato was smashed into paste by the attack of the 13th Grave. "Now the effect of my mystic tomato kicks in allowing my to summon any monster from my deck in attack position as long as it's a dark monster with 1500 attack or less. I chose to summon another mystic tomato!
"Now go my Great Mammoth smash his other pathetic tomato!
"Then the effect of my other tomato will activate allowing me to summon ANOTHER dark monster from my deck, this time it'll be the Witch of the Black Forest!"
"Now I finish my turn! It is yours sir."
"I'll draw a card then. Watch and learn kid, this might go a bit too fast for you. First just like you I'll activate the magic card Polymerization allowing me to fuse the Witch of the Black Forest on my field with the Lady of Faith in my hand! With those two monsters I'll fusion summon the mighty Musician King. Thanks to my Witch of the Black Forest I'm allowed to add any monster from my deck to my hand with an Defense 1500 or lower! I chose the strongest Fiend-type Monster that currently exists. The Summoned Skull!"
"You may have one of the strongest cards in this game but its on par with my Great Mammoth so bring it on!
"Now I'll tribute my Musician king to summon my Summoned Skull. While it is true that they have equal attack, your Mammoth's defense isn't high enough to block Summoned Skull's attack and I'll be taking advantage of it with this spell card Block attack! Forcing your Mammoth in Defense mode!"
"Damn you...I'll make you regret doing that!"
"Now summoned Skull take out his Mammoth! With that I'll end my turn."
"DRAW! I'll switch my 13th grave to defence mode and set a monster face-down. Your move."
"I'll draw a card then. Now summoned skull attack his face-down monster! With that I'll end my turn."
"Draw! I set one monster face-down and end my turn."
"Draw! Summoned Skull attack his face-down monster! After that I'll end my turn."
"I draw. I'll set one monster face-down once again and that concludes my turn."

"My turn Draw! Finally with this I'll be able to get rid of your monsters and seal this duel shu-" From across the room a "Tsk, Tsk" was heard. The teacher looked around and saw the headmaster standing in the elevator. "This won't do, no this will not do at all. You gotta give the kids a chance! Now move over, I'll take it from here." "Uh, yes sir!" The Headmaster now stood across Ashten. "Hello, please forgive the teacher. It seems he got a bit overzealous!"
Ashten realizing who he is facing bows to the head-master giving him the respect he deserves. "It is forgiven head-master and it is an honor to face you here at your school aswell crushing you in your own school!" Ashten stands straight up once again with a grin showing his confidence in his dueling ability.
"Feel free to try, dear student of mine. I'll have to get used to this deck a bit but you won't mind would you?" Without waiting for an answer he looked at the field and the cards in his hand and decided. "Okay here goes. I tribute my Summoned Skull for a Neck Hunter. Now my Neck Hunter will destroy your 13th Grave. With that I'll allow you to find a way to get rid of this little reaper of mine." He said in a tone which seemed a bit too happy for most people to be comfortable with.
Ashten laughs at the fact that his tester and the headmaster has been sending his monsters ot the grave willy-nilly with no care because he knows all this will help him later or sooner in the duel. "Draw! I will tribute my face-down monster to summon the great pumpking king of ghosts in attack mode! Aswell equip it with the spell known as violet crystal increasing his power by 300 points. Now go my monster show him why you are known as the king of ghosts! Attack his Neck Hunter! With that I end my turn."
"Ooh, I can see why you chose that deck now. The monsters are just so hauntinly mesmerizing. However I can't dwell on them for too long I have a job to do, Draw! You'll do. Now I summon my Witch's apprentice, while it's effect would raise all dark monsters on the field by 500 points, your Pumpking also is a Dark monster so it wouldn't help a lot. However this magic card will quickly change that. I activate the magic card share the pain. Now my apprentice take your own life so that you can exorcise this king of ghosts so that his spirit may rest in the next world." He giggled a bit as the apprentice stabbed himself in the heart and vanished from the field. "I think I'll end my turn with that. Now summon a monster that can do some damage to me!"
"You will pay for the disrespect you shown to my king by destroying it with that pathetic spell! Draw! As much I would love to deal major damage for that this will have to do. I summon my Curroding Shark in attack mode and attack you directly! That will be it your turn headmaster."
"Huh, it seems you've started to run out of strong monsters. Well then Lucky me! I'll draw a card. Now I'll summon one of my favorite cards Masked sorcerer. and equip it with the sword of dark destruction boosting it's attack points by 400 points but losing 200 defense points. Now!" He took his staff and twirled it around his finger and threw it in the air. "Masked Sorcerer attack his-" He caughed the staff and pointed with it to the Corroding shark. "That shark of his! Now since my Masked Sorcerer dealt damage to you his magic allows me to draw a card! Isn't he just wonderful?!" With those he pointed his staff at Ashten indicating he could take his turn now.
Ashten put his hand over his deck closing his eyes hoping that his deck will give him what he needs to make the comeback."Draw!" Ashten drew his card still with his eyes shut he looks at his card that he draw and smiles."Headmaster this duel is truly entertaining but now I believe this is my time to make a comeback and soon end it. I summon my Destroyer Golem in Attack mode! Now attack his masked Sorcerer!" The golem slowly raised its anchient massive fist charging at the masked sorcerer soon smashing it to peices.. "This will conclude my turn Headmaster."
"Okay then. Lets see what my deck deals me this turn. Nothing particulary good. So for now I'll just set a monster and end my turn. Go right ahead."
Ashten draws his card now showing an evil grin showing that something sinister is comming "This duel was fun head master but now its comming to an end! I summon my ace monster THE SHADOW GHOUL! I tribute my golem to bring fourth this powerful creature." Claws rip out through the middle of the field with a creature comming out of the shreds of reality revealing it to be the ghoul. "Due to you and that tester carelessly destroying my monsters this creatures power increases for each soul in the grave. With 11 souls in the grave my monsters power increases by 1100 points making him 2700! Now go shred his creature nightmare slash! heheheh your turn now headmaster."
"Ooh, I'll have to check if I own that monster since it's one I really like! I'll draw a card for now! I'll set a card and end my turn."
"Draw. I set one monster face-down and attack with my ghoul. Nightmare Slash! Your turn."
"Ooh, my nex turn is going to hurt a bit." The headmaster said. "So I might as well have fun. I set all my cards on the field and end my turn. Go ahead and see what awaits you." He said as the smirk on his face got wider and wider.
Ashten thinks to himself "I will not be intimidated by this charade...I will not.." Ashten draws his card and smiles.
"So... did you draw a weak monster which you KNOW won't fall into a trap hole?" The Headmaster asked the student.
"If you truly do have the card trap hole set I believe you would not wish to do that since this creature represents you in a way sir. I summon the clown zombie in attack mode. With this I now flip my face-down monster to attack mode to reveal the castle where nightmares come from. I reveal the Castle of Dark Illusions! With this all my monsters gain 200 attack and defence and as each turn passes by of mine during the stand-by phase they will gain 200 more points. This will boost will continue for 4 turns so I suggest you destroy them fast. Now go my creatures attack!"
"Splendidly played. I'll take note of this test and then post the results soon. It's around Dinner time now, so I recommend you going to the cafetaria and get yourself something to eat before the announcement is made. I heard there'll be Pizza." With those words he hopped off the platform and walked away humming a tune.
